A day here
How a child spends the day in the home
No clock times: each part of the day follows the children's pace.
- 01Early morning
Step 1: Arrival
Each child arrives with their family at the door. There is time to say goodbye, to hug and to hang a backpack on its hook.
- 02Mid-morning
Step 2: Play in the living room
Blocks, books, play dough and paint on the rug and at the table. Babies have their own spot on the floor, with Edilia beside them.
- 03Around noon
Step 3: Snack and lunch
Fruit in the morning and a hot lunch made in the kitchen. The children eat at the table, each at their own pace.
- 04After lunch
Step 4: Nap
Babies sleep on their backs, in their own cribs, with nothing else in the crib. Older children rest on mats, and anyone who doesn't sleep looks at books quietly.
- 05In the afternoon
Step 5: Yard and garden
We go out to the fenced yard, with shade, water and hats. In season, we water the plants and taste what grows.
- 06End of the day
Step 6: Pickup
Each child is handed over in person. Edilia tells you how the day went and what they ate, and asks for ID from anyone she doesn't know.

Lunch is made at home
Edilia cooks lunch for everyone: a vegetable soup, beans, rice and tortillas, with fruit in season. This is a sample menu; she shares each week's menu with families.
Two snacks and a lunch each day
